Bangladesh: Legal And Judicial Capacity Building Project

The following project was approved today by the World Bank's Board:
CREDIT AMOUNT: IDA-US$30.6 million equivalent
Terms: Grace period=10 years; maturity=40 years
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will assist Bangladesh in making its civil justice system more efficient, effective and accountable. It is designed to address the most pressing problems of timeliness and accessibility while paving the way for subsequent reforms in other areas. It will cover the first phase of the Government's long-term strategy to build a well-functioning system capable of improving the financial, commercial, industrial and social life of the nation.
