The Doing Business report provides a global ranking of 175 world economies on the ease of doing business and reforms. The report is co-sponsored by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. - Bangladesh introduced a new land registration act to improve security and reduce corruption in land transactions.
- However, the report finds that the greatest remaining obstacles South Asia are slow courts and rigid labor laws. In Bangladesh, enforcing a simple commercial contract through the courts takes 50 procedures and 1,442 days.
- The report estimates that Bangladesh’s garment exports could earn 30% more if inefficiencies at the port of Chittagong were resolved.
