Bangladesh: Water Management Improvement Project

 

WASHINGTON, September 18, 2007 - The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA CREDIT: US$102.26 million

TERMS: Maturity = 40 years; grace period = 10 years.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is designed to enhance water management by expanding the role of local communities, from planning and design to operations and management. It also aims to improve institutional performance of the country’s principal water institutions ─ Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) and Water Resources Planning Organization (WARPO).
