Objectives
With more and more children now entering school throughout the region, the education challenge is shifting to focus on issues related to quality with equity, and access to education for the hard to reach. . The objective of the conference will be to bring together policy makers and international experts on education policy to discuss and debate outcomes of interventions that have been implemented to achieve quality education for all. The thrust of the conference will be on presenting sound empirical evidence on what works to improve quality and increase access to those hard to reach.

Brief Description of Program Sessions will aim to discuss outcomes of interventions related to issues such as classroom processes, enhancing teacher accountability, developing and strengthening the institutional capacity to monitor learning outcomes and evaluate the impact of interventions, and strengthening the role of local bodies in school management. Sessions will focus on the following issues: Measuring and enhancing the quality of education What works to improve quality, including: Teacher professional development, incentives and accountability; Decentralization, quality assurance, and school based management; and Teaching-learning processes and pedagogy.
