Bangladesh - Northern Areas Reduction-of-Poverty Initiative: Women’s Economic Empowerment Project

WASHINGTON, October 27, 2011 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project:

IDA Credit: US$29.29 Million Equivalent

Terms: Maturity = 40 years; Grace = 10 years

Project Description:  The project aims to facilitate access to employment in the garment sector for poor and vulnerable women in economically lagging parts of the country. This will be accomplished by providing information, technical and life skills training, transitional housing, and other support to adjust to urban life and formal sector employment.
