World Bank Public Information Centers (PICs) are "libraries and beyond."

World Bank PICs provide access to World Bank publications, reports and other operational documents. This is in support of the World Bank's policy of disclosure about its activities, open access to its documents, and to explain its work to the widest possible audience. For information on the World Bank's Policy on Information Disclosure, click here.

More than just a traditional library........

The PIC also hosts and participates in a range of development related activities including dialogues, seminars, workshops, book fairs, etc. Our PIC also serves as the central contact in Bangladesh for persons seeking to obtain World Bank documents and other requests for information. Holdings include public reports on Bangladesh and major World Bank publications. These publications can also be obtained through our regional depository library program or purchased through our local distibutors. The World Bank Bangladesh office is considered a pioneer in local publication of World Bank documents. Since 1996, the World Bank's Dhaka Office has published a number of major Bank documents, many of them in Bangla. The idea is to disseminate these documents much more widely in Bangladesh where they are most demanded.
